Birthday Party With Aunt Julie

The kids have been very excited for Aunt Julie to come all the way from Texas for a visit. Since she only comes about once a year, she likes to throw a birthday party for all the nieces and nephews, when she comes. The kids love it. They get to have lunch with Julie, play at Blastoff, and blow out candles on a birthday cake. We all had a great time together and even got to see Grandma Weaver too. We were so happy to get to see Julie, but wished she could have brought Ted, Joe, and Patrick too. Its a bummer having family live so faraway, so we really cherish the times when we do get together.

Reversible Super Hero Capes

I've been meaning to blog this all winter along with some other winter projects, but am now just getting around to it. I got the idea for these on superhotmama's blog. You should see her to the right, if you wanna check her out. She has lots great ideas and is very talented. We made these capes for enrichment and I made a bunch for my nephews. They are so cute and reversible too. Batman/Incredibles or Superman/Spiderman. The little logos are zig zaged around the edge so they don't fray. I wish I had a picture of a kid wearing them, but I gave them away too quick. I will have to get one of Cole wearing his, when he gets one. I think I will make his for his Birthday or Christmas.

GRRRRR

I went to Toys R Us last night, hoping to bring home this swing set for my kiddos. They had it on sale and by applying for a store card that would bring the price down another 10%, a great deal, that I was happy to get. I was approved for the card, but for some reason their computer was retarded and would not print out the 10% off coupon. The manager couldn't seem to figure it out so he applied me for the credit card again. WHAT????? After being there for an hour, I finally asked if they could just give me a rain check on the sale price and maybe they'd have their computer figured out by the time I came to pick up the swing set. The manager told me that they couldn't give a rain check for an item that they had in stock. So by the time I get the 10% coupon the swing set wont be on sale anymore. Can't they make an exception??? Doesn't the manager have the power to override the computer. GRRRR. So I left the store with no swing set and TWO credit card applications that I have NO intention of using other than to get the 10% off. The employees were nice and gave me a number to call and complain, so that is what I did today. Toys R Us customer service said that I need to talk to the store manager to see if he'll honor the sale price. I told her that he already told me he doesn't know how. Then she preceeded to make a case for the corporate office. Now I just have to wait 5-7 days for corporate to call me. What a joke! This should have been so simple! I can still hear the cashiers voice saying "Would you like to sign up for a Toys R Us card and save 10% off today's purchase?" If I the stupid credit card wasn't being processed, I would have just went and bought a swing set from Sam's Club! I guess I have no choice, but to wait and see what the corporate office has to say.

Easter

The kids after church.

My Mom has this pet bunny that lives in her house. Alyssa and Cole love it! I had to hold her for a picture for Easter, not a great pose, but it is the only way you can hold her without getting bit. She loves to be petted, but is scared of heights. We have a family egg hunt every year and this year it was at my Mom and Dad's house. We have a yummy breakfast and egg hunt/games for the kids. I am so glad we started this tradition 4 years ago. Participating in community egg hunts, where you have to fight for your kids to get one egg, while trying not to get trampled on, do not sound fun. What we do, is sooo much better! Next year the party will be at our house. We are excited because our yard will be great for the egg hunt!

Cole was not happy about participating in a family picture (he gets that from his Dad), notice his mad pout face.

We had these bunny masks for the kid's egg hunt. We made the eye holes small for the big kids to give them a disadvantage.

Alyssa got a bike ridding lesson from Grandpa afterward.

Our 8th Wedding Anniversary

At the end of March, Mark and I celebrated our 8th Wedding Anniversary. To celebrate, we went to the condos in West Yellowstone with our friends, Ryan and Melanie Daw. Mel and I were roomies in college. Funny that we didn't have a romantic getaway with just the two of us, I know. Mark and I had a couple of getaways this winter and since the codo in West Yellowstone has such a nice indoor pool, we thought we'd take the kids. And since we were taking the kids, why not take another couple with kids??? It was a super fun weekend!! We played cards and ate lots of yummy food. Alyssa and McKinley had their own room and thought that was pretty cool. We all had fun at the pool and Mel gave me a swimming lesson, which was pretty funny because I can barely doggie paddle!

You know that feeling when someone is totally rude???? Well, maybe they REALLY didn’t see you standing by their car waving. Or maybe, they were late for an appointment and have intentions of saying “Sorry, for not saying Hi” the next time they see you. Or maybe, their stomach started to gurgle and they really had to....you know. Or maybe, their cell phone started to ring and they really had to run off to take the call. Well, whatever the reason, I know there is a perfectly good excuse why Mr. and Mrs. XXXXXX drove off without even turning their heads to smile or say, “Hey, How’s it going?” So... no hard feelings on my end, it was another good day.
